Thantos, Developer

Thantos, Developer

How long have you been involved with coding?
I started coding full force about 5 years ago.

What applications do you use to code?
VIM on both Linux and Windows.

What is your typical daily agenda as an SMF Developer?
Right now I'm focusing more on fixing bugs to further the SMF 1.1 release. I also do work on parts of our website such as the theme site.

What advice can you give new coders?
Never stop coding. Also get a cheap development machine and then have no fear about making a mistake.

What do you do when you're not coding?
I'm a college student so most of my time not spent coding is spent working on my classes. I also enjoy online role playing games.

Do you work on any other projects other than SMF?
Currently no.

What piece of the SMF code are you most proud of?
All of it. The part is nothing without the whole and the whole is nothing without the part.

What is the biggest mistake you have made while working on SMF (be honest )?
Accidentally uploaded some files from another branch into the SMF 1.0 branch.

Firefox or Internet Explorer?
Opera.

Will we ever have to pay for SMF in the future?
Not while I'm on the team.

How do you handle supporting a free product?
Generous donations.

If you were advising a future forum owner, what is the one reason you would give him or her to use SMF over any other?
With SMF you get a great product that has no cost to you.

What upcoming SMF feature are you most excited about?
All of them

How do you see SMF changing over the next 5 years?
Computer technology changes very rapidly. It’s very plausible that the SMF today will look nothing like the SMF of 5 years from now.

If the sky were the limit, what would be the one thing you would add to SMF?
There are a bunch of things that I'd like to see added, you will just have to wait to find out what they are.

If the entire staff of SMF were stranded on a deserted island, who would be the first to be eaten and why?
Oh that’s simple it'd be .... ahhh my arm, they are eating my arm.
