Can you tell us a little about yourself?

Well, I'm 20... I work in the Engineering Dept. at a contract manufacturer in Salem, NH. We build all types of circuit boards from motherboards to the stuff you see in hospitals. I'm still a College student, I like to go out with my friends and have fun on the weekends. And of course, I like long walks on the beach.

What do you like to do for fun, when your not workin on x10?

I just bought a boat this summer, I'll probably be spending most of my free time up at the lake. I'm into wakeboarding even though I hurt myself everytime I go out. Besides that, I like to go down to Boston, rent a hotel room, and have a party.

What are your favorite books/movies/music/games/foods?

Books:
I like Stephen King and Dean Koontz.

Movies:
I just saw Hitch and the new Batman. Those were both great, I also liked Man on Fire.

Music:
Alternative Rock I guess?, I like Yellowcard, Taking Back Sunday, some others like that. I listen to some rap but nothing hardcore.

Games:
I have a modded xBox and PS2 but I rarely use those, I'm definitely a computer guy. I like multiplayer war strategy and first person shooters. I used to play a lot of MMORPGs but nothing out has really interested me.

Food:
I'd say Outback is my favorite restaurant. I'm definitely a fast food junkie, I rarely eat at home. If anyone wants to come cook for me I'll pay you!

How high in school did you pass? I.E: High School, College, etc.?

I'm currently attending College, I started to go when I was 14 at the community college in NH, then I switched to Umass Lowell. Now I recently switched to online classes at Umass about a year ago so I could work full-time. I'm a CS Major with a minor in business management.

Which forums do you enjoy as a member, or other sites you own/admin/mod?

I visit Penny-Arcade.com and WebHostingTalk.com mostly. I stop by freewebspace.net on occasion to promote x10. I own a few other sites including FreePhotoHost.net and WiseSubmit.com . I have a few other project sites that I work on in my free time.

Why did you choose to go with x10hosting?

We actually started off as paid hosting on the internet. It took a few weeks to actually pick out a domain name as most names are taken. While we were thinking of one the x10 camera ad came up and that's how we got x10 hosting.

How did you choose the forum staff?

It started out with Auvee, he was originally hosted by me when we were paid hosting. I talked with him a while online and he started working on the x10 site. Auvee is the one who set the forums and everything up the way it is. Once we started getting too many applications for us to handle we made a thread requesting staff. We got a huge response and picked a few select members. We have a great team thus far and I hope we can add more quality staff members as we grow.

How can you afford such big plans that are more than some paid plans other hosts give?

Most of the revenue is made from ads\google. We do have a few members that pay to remove the ads. The theory behind this is if people are using up the space\bandwidth allocated to them then they're getting more page views which in turn gives us more money. So the more space\bandwidth an account uses the more valuable they are to us.

What are some common mistakes you see new webmasters making?

Lose interest. No matter what you do it takes time to build up a viewer base. Most people think if they throw up a forum regarding a topic people will just come and join. When they don't see a horde of people flocking to their site they lose interest and stop working on the site.

What are some things you see that are bad with other free hosting sites?

People are in it solely for the money. Most people don't realize you're going to lose money at first, they get either a reseller account or host off of their shared account and end up running out of resources or getting suspended. You have to have your own servers to make it in free hosting.

Whats in store for x10Hosting in the next 5-10 years?

5-10 years is a long time but hopefully we'll still be around. We gain about an average of 30 new members a day, we will try our best to build a thriving community and become the #1 free host on the web.

How do you see the internet in general changing over the next 5 to 10 years? What about hosting companies in particular?

As technology improves and connections to the internet improve I believe it will be possible for people to host their websites from home. I think only larger websites will be on servers in a datacenter somewhere that need the security\fire protection\cooling\etc... This is a tough one to answer though, what if you asked someone this 10 years ago?

Although the site offers quality free web hosting the site is not jam packed with ad's and gets rather annoying. Nerveless good interview.
