Where do you get them and how much are they? This is something that is on our list of things to purchase for AdminFusion, but they are quite pricey. It seems as if the running price these days is typically $200-$300 for a fully coded, customized skin. I have, although, seen them for as low as $100 and as high as $700. There is also the option to buy an uncoded skin for cheaper and then pay somebody else to code it.

Anyways...if you have any experience shopping for custom skins, let us know...we're always on the lookout for info and good deals on skins

I have spent about 3 months scoping out the market so that I know when and where to go for a skin. Anyway, Sleekskins does a fully coded skin with buttons and what not for $450.

I am unsure about vBulletin Skinz but they are supposedly one of the industry leaders and have created some nice looking skins which you might want to have a look at

Everybody has heard of and no doubt seen the legenday work of Tarun Hari. He has skinned up the likes of Domain Forums and Talkfreelance.

And then last but not least Anthony who is the co-owner of Talkfreelance has his own skinning site. vBMode is his and has skinned forums such as HelloGreen

Now some of those site only do the designing of the skin for you. If you would like some coding, then head over to Aros who runs and owns YourSkinner. He has coded some great forums such as YoungCoders and DomainForums

I have not bought or had a skin designed or coded so I can't say about any of their support or anything at all. I hope this helps

vBulletin Skinz is quite expensive...one of the highest I have seen. I've also seen some great talent at Talkfreelance, so I'm always keeping an eye on those forums...but I havent heard of some of the others, I'll definitely check them out

Be carefull of who you contract your desing too, some of the companies out there, i.e. vbcore, hire other designers and coders and be the middle man. Just stay away from vBcore..your hard earned money will be safe from abuse lol

Yep, do lots and lots of research...finding 1 or two bad comments about a company are okay but finding a pattern..its not. Furthermore contact previous clients of their companies..some of them may not be as happy as the company is protraying

Frankly, I like to make my own skins. The one that my website has at the moment was designed by one of our own administrators. It may be simple, but it looks great and runs off PNG images rather than GIFs. Loads quick and most everyone loves it.

I even released the style on vBulletin.org if anyone's interested. =P I guess in my eyes, the best things to use are the free things you make yourself. However, that's not always the case when you're not skilled with creating them. >_<;

ive never bought a skin i usually have had the default one or downloaded one but i actually made one its the one i have now ! but im not done yet i still need to do a few things like make the post icons

I decided to submit my site to vBulletin Skinz awhile back and I was quoted a price of $700-$800. Of course that's too much for me but I figured that would be among the higher priced places.

Just remember, each price quote given may vary so you may have better luck.
