Before you make any drastic changes or additions to your forums...do you ask your members what they think about it? Oftentimes I think that it is a good procedure to follow, but sometimes I also think that the members do not always have the knowledge or are not justified to make a decision. There are some things that just need to be done whether or not the majority of the community agrees.

The things I am talking about are things such as new design, mods, or rules...Designs, for example...I think that it is good to have members provide input on the design so that they can get what they want, but on the same token, isn't it also nice to surprise your members completely? That element of suspense is always something nice to have as well...but of course you don't want to go off and create a new design which your members do not like...it's a tough decision to make.

er, when i totally re-did my forum i really did not ak them, i did it b/c it needed to be done (IMO)

I do think you should ask them on if you want a new temp or any of that but it is really up to the owner in the end...if he don't want it he is not gonig to put it on his site..

I tend to just ask my staff, I don't like revealing too much to the general public before something is final. That way I don't get their hopes up if I decide not to go through with it heh.

I would think with a major change/upgrade yes. If you are just making additions, I would just put it in the announcement section after it was done.

I mainly ask my staff (moderators and assistants) what they think about various things. Most of my members visit for assistance with computer problems and they aren't overly concerned with some of the changes at my site.
