If you did not discuss credit in the footer with this forum owner, then no, you are not entitled to it.

If you want credit in the footer, then you should make this clear before performing the work. If this is paid work that you're doing, then you can arrange something like "I'll do it for half as much if you give me credit in the footer"...or, you can say something like "I'll do it for free if you give me credit in the footer"

but again...This is something that you should really arrange before the work is done, not after.

No, Caddyman -or Ryan -. I have never been paid for any of my work. I see it as a hobby. But as my skills improve (especially in php coding) -the work I am doing is becoming increasingly involved and time consuming and I feel it has value. Many of you would regard me as a dummy.



Maybe I should should start thinking more commercially and at least asking for a footer link to one of my enterprises in exchange for freebies?

Again, it's totally up to you...If you want to be paid for your work, ask for money...If you want for credit in the footer, ask for it...If you are happy with doing this voluntarily with no money or credit (which it sounds to me like you're not), then just continue doing the work for free

do i think its fair if your doing work for free to ask for some kind of link to your site....SURE DO. Definetly, if you did free work for me i dont think i would mind.

If you want to and can start charging, go for it, and like Ryan said maybe if you want a link to tell them you'll knock a few $$ off for it.

I enjoy helping people, but word has gotten out that I can do this or that, and I am getting a little overwhelmed with requests.

I guess I'll decide who I'll work for... gratis and who I won't

Just start charging for any new projects. (letting them know ahead of time) The more requests you get in time, the higher in price you can go.
