First Impressions?

I would love to improve the first impressions of my forum, Notebook In Hand - Powered by vBulletin , so that hopefully more members will join. The colour scheme isn't negotiable though. Any ideas?

I suggest a better unique logo. A new skin would do justice also. It looks too boxy and no curves at all really. The horizontal scrolling stuff after the logo makes me want to puke, just kidding. However, it does detract from the forum. Basically, it is just noise. It could be placed well within the forum somewhere and not scrolling across the page like a kiddie myspace page - ya know?

I second that. Maybe if you're attracting females, that color scheme would be perfect. I am looking at my list of book marked websites and I really don't see any purple color schemed ones...get my drift?
