DISGUSTED with vBAdvanced....

after I upgraded my vBulletin to 3.5.4, some of the modules quit working. SO I post on the vba forum at vb.org, and at the vba forum. Reading there, seems that quite a few people were having the very same problems and not getting much help.

SO, after a week of no answers, I open a support ticket at vba, and after 2 days waiting, receive a reply that "I'm looking into it". THAT was almost 2 weeks ago.

NOW, I get frustrated with the lack of support there, so I uninstalled vbAdvance cmps, and go over to vBDrupal. Looks good, so I installed it.

HA! I can't get my path correct in the config.php file, nor in the settings in the admincp, and I've been waiting since 5 am this morning (YES I was up all night with this) for help and am still waiting.

*sigh*

suppose maybe I should give up on having a portal page.

I understand your frustration completely...I've used both before, though I didn't bother to use support. Both are bulky, complex to install and setup, and hard to customize...

The vBDrupal install and configuration was a nightmare for me, and I never got it perfected...just close enough to be functional

That would be my best advice to you ...it's what we have decided to do here at AF. We will have a front page, but it won't be one of these integrated CMS's

I am using 3.5.4 and my modules are working fine... but then I was already upbgraded when I installed it. What issues are you having?

well.. I wanted a place to put advertising other than on my forum, plus a place for top 10 posters, birthdays, news from around the world, etc.

modules not working right, pulling from threads other than those designated, recent threads module completely blank, etc. It's been a nightmare, lol

I've uninstalled it and removed all traces of vba from my site. Installed drupal today and it, too is a nightmare. Everything works, just not like I want it to. So, uninstalling it as we speak.

Perhaps I'll reinstall vba... I wonder if that's all I needed to do

VBA is a portal, which is okay if you are not running a content site. vBDrupal IS a Content Management System, it's not a portal. I was frustrated with it at first too, but after getting around the system I found it very flexible. It can pretty much do anything you want with it's module system. You just need to view the modules from the Drupal site of make your own.

If you need any help with Drupal, feel free to ask.
