fixed width or liquid?

I was a big fan of liquid skins but lately I have been more inclined towards going for fixed ones purely because it doesnt screw up the whole design with the change in resolution of users. With fixed the way you arrange your graphics and text people will see it exactly like that. Your thoughts?

i alwasy liked fixed skins.Liquid skins are just turn off to me.

Fixed skins definetly give designer a option to maintain his design identity without exploiting it.I always prefer fixed skins for this reason.

Also if you see the 4 largest sites
www.ebay.com
www.yahoo.com
www.bbc.co.uk
www.cnn.com

are all fixed width ones designed for 800X600.

I am definately one for fixed width, centered forums. I feel they look much better than fluid styles.

Hmm but all your default skins are fluid Fixed are definately easy to work with very few sites tend to pull of 100 percent of fluid correctly such that it looks uniform on all resolutions.

I prefer fluid ones. (fixed ones for 800x600 looks really poor on 1600x1280)

Fixed designs are much easier to make and use, but fluid provides more choices for addons and having them fit properly.

I'm a fluid fan. But when you purchase a skin, you usually get both versions, so you might as well offer the choice.
