So in order to enable us all to pick up some useful information, I thought it would be wise to build a list of the best designed forums around. I'll post the ones that come to mind below. Join Date: Aug 2005 Posts: 1,741 | I've always disliked the sitepoint forums. No direct link to the index is available on the forum enterance, and the auto-appearing bottom ad for their products is annoying. And the fact that it costs $10 to post in some forums is offputting. | ||||

Some of my opinions: The case of deviantart it's pretty unique, this would be a case where the community is built around the other website features besides the forums. Their design it's quite minimalistic by need, but even so, they have manged to give it a personality. Gaia Online and India Forums have gone the way to remodel the way a forum looks. Gaia has done it with amazingly good taste indeed. India Forums lacks the professional look some of the others have, but apparently it has done little to diminish their fanbase, so they go with the "if it ain't broken..." I will have to check the others with more detail... but this is my opinion so far on some of the biggest names there.
