I'm curious to hear what everybody thinks their most valuable modification to their forums is...whether it's user-side or admin-side...The one that helps out your forums or yourself the most.

I'd definitely have to say that mine, at the time being, would be the sidebar located on the index page. Not only does this distinguish the forums from others, but it allows for me to put valuable information in good view without cluttering the index! (at least....I don't think it clutters the index, haha)

Yeah...I have run a community that incorporated an army system, which was text-based. It was a HUGE hit, brought people back to check in daily and even brought in members for the sole purpose of using that system. Those are definitely things to consider implementing, but be sure that your site could actually use it...This site, for example...an army or RPG game would not exactly fit very well with

Mine would be the arcade. Hands down the best for a tech site.

Mine was a plain old simple calendar.

But a dang useful one at that. For a gaming clan website it was helpful for setting up matches and practices and whatnot.

The most valuble mod, at least for phpbb if not other software, is the mode hich removes the sid's and seo's your forum. Without this, phpbb wont get indexed past your index

Interesting...that's not the case for IPB, but I never knew it was the case for phpBB...and to think, I've actually run phpBB forums before

Ignore list. Even IF has a mod for it, and it is a great way to help freeze conflict.

The cash mod for my phpBB installation is by far the best
I would have to say this is closely followed by easymod, which lets me just upload mods instead of having to manually edit my boards. Great, great feature.

Easymod is crap. Yeah, it saves time with some mods. But just as often, it causes many errors, which take longer to fix than manual installation would have.
