Best design program?

Howdy folks!

Im looking to buy a program to do webdesign with, i can spend upto about $2000.

I've heard that Photoshop CS2 is quite good - anyone recommend it?

Thanks,

I just go straight to the source and code. I can't stand WYSIWYG editing. But if you mean the graphics, go with Photoshop if you are willing to spend money or GIMP if you are not.

If you mean WYSIWYG editing than Dreamweaver is what you want if you are willing to spend money or NVU (pronounced "New View") if you are not.

Photoshop CS2 is highly worth the money, I would say, but only if you are planning on investing a lot time in it and using it for several projects. Some of the best skins and layouts are made with Photoshop.

If you mean just graphics program Photoshop's the best. But if you want tools for designing web pages etc., go for Dreamweaver or some of Adobe's web products.

But frankly I would do the stuff by hand, it gives more control and its a lot cleaner though more time consuming.

I personaly didnt get on well with Photoshop CS 2 - I've always used Photoshop 7 and when i tried CS 2 it was a little annoying with so many changes.

CS2 won't work on my Windows 98. So I haven't even tried it yet, I'm very comfortable with Photoshop 7...
