Light or dark?

In your opinion, do you think forum skins should generaly be light or dark.

Personaly i feel they should be light as having them dark can promote the wrong thoughts.

I think it depends a lot on the subject of the forum. Rock forums and gaming wouldn't look right with a light theme, IMO.

Dark will make most people uncomfortable so light it is .... there are studies where most people preferred to read on light background and dark letters .... even on internet

I love dark themes and I consider to be very elegant. Still I am using light ones since people think that dark ones are not professional or at least that they're only on teens sites.

I prefer light themes. That is because most of the dark themes I've seen go overboard and it becomes ridiculously difficult to read the text.

A good balanced dark theme can look slick, but you are less likely to make mistakes make a light one.

But generally it depends on the theme of the site. Oh and there's nothing intrinsically wrong in having a rock-site with a light theme.

Maybe some dark themes look proffesional, but you don't want your forum users to become blind do you. If I make dark theme on forum I make sure users can pick their own theme in profile.

Light, generally speaking. Dark skin can be pretty tricky to use. So many things need to be set right in order for it to look clean and elegant. I am not a great designer, so I generally stick to a light skin

Dark skins are good for games, entertainment, and other not so serious forums but light skins are for professional and serious forums. My custom skin is going to be light as our board is mainly about politics and economy.
