VBSEO

Who's using VBSEO? I'm looking at building a similar package for SMF, and I need to know the feature set of VBSEO to compare against. What exactly does it do, and if you know, how does it do it?

Example, I know that it rebuilds the URLS from site.com/vb/forumdisplay?s=6 to site.com/vb/f6. Presumably, it does that with .htaccess tweaks and mod_rewrite, along with a modification to the codebase to make links display by titlename.

I don't want to get a copy of vBulletin and VBSEO so as to maintain my 'cleanroom' mentality, but any help would be appreciated. Honestly, I doubt they'd have a problem with it as they seem focused on VB and not at all interested in SMF.

You might want to have a look at this thread

but I think the way vbseo works is that it rewrites all the urls to something like:
Code:
/vbseo.php?url=cats-and-dogs/my-cat-is-cute.html
and then uses Regular Expressions based on your rules to find out what it's doing.

Well, vbSEO is more than rewrite, it has a huge amount of options, like adding google analytics code automatically, without needing to manually edit the footer style, and google pings, plus vbSEO team developed some nice tools, that vbSEO works just fine with, ie Sitemaps generator, and others. I`d say, it`s worth it`s money. I know I tried vbRewrite from vbulletin.org, but daily posts, and new posts, doesn`t work well.

im wanting to go onto vbSEO...

However theres some guys making exactly the same thing but for $50... im going to take a look at that and if its basically the same then il take it off them guys...

Also vBulletin have released a link directory...does anyone know if this would help boost my google ranking etc, basically the same as adding a normal link?! because i quite like the look of that...
