I am using Joomla and i can add keywords to each page i write.
However i do not understand why i need to add keywords to make the page more "visible" on Search Engines.

Lets say i write a article about cars. I talk about Fords, Jeeps, Toyota, Lexus. Why do i need, to add a few keywords "example - Fords, Jeeps, Toyota, Lexus" onto the page that i write, because the page already has "Fords, Jeeps, Toyota, Lexus" on it.

Keywords are of some importance but not the be all and ebnd all

The idea is to optimize your site for certain keywords so that it can appear high in the Search Engine Results Pages when a search engine query is made for those words

But I find that a lot of my sites rank well for keywords I never optimized for

I would identify useful keywords and insert them if I were you, but don't make this an obsession.

Well good keywords to add might just be individual models, eg. Ford Taurus, Lexus IS 300, Toyota Camry, etc. Is it just adding those keywords into the meta tags or does it actually incorporate it in the page somewhere?
