vBSEO, is it really worth it?

I have been running a forum for nearly a year and while there is constantly new threads being posted and the 10-15 regular members that visit every day keep the content fresh, our membership numbers are lacking. I was thinking of ways to improve on this and I wanted to find out what others think of vBSEO? I know this question has been asked before but I want to hear current results and not something from a year ago or longer. So let me here it... should I consider investing in vBSEO to help generate more traffic?

On a side note, my forum does not currently make any money and that is something we would like to do in the future but we are not going to push it just yet. With our low membership numbers, we don't want to scare away anyone that thinks we are all about the money and nothing else.

I haven't, as of yet, invested in it however I have seen websites grow a great deal as a result of the software. I think it would be well worth the investment. I would wait till you hear from some experienced users of the software, but I think you should get it

It's hard to say whether it is worth it or not because for example it is impossible for me to know what my forum would be like without it. But I believe it is a good piece of software and I am glad I bought it. And it certainly can't hurt.

vBSEO does sound good but so far I am not sold on buying it. Where is Bama? I know what his answer would be but I'd like to hear what he has to say about it.

These threads usually turn into a war between those who like it, and those who don't.

I personally wouldn't own a vB forum without it. My Camaro forum is 1/20th the size of the other ones, and I rank in the top 5 for just about every keyword that draws big traffic. Obviously the program isn't a miracle that will make a crappy site turn into something amazing, but it will most definitely help with almost everyone.

The one thing I'm not sure on is installing it on already built-up forums and if it more often makes a good or bad impact on it.

AzH, how did you come up with the differences? Were the stats with no vBSEO from before you installed it or on a similar forum? I am leaning toward getting it. It just seems worth it to see what happens. I've been running my forum for almost a year and I am interested to see how well it works out. Maybe in a year I can post an update and then at least I can compare with my forum how it was without the script and how things went after installing it.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone.

Similar forum. Competing with mine. The URL differs by one letter and the keywords are identical. I'm sure part of the difference is down to my awesomeness.

Wouldn't own a vBulletin forum without it. If you go into it knowing that you are taking care of flaws in vBulletin and not expecting it to be a miracle seo product then you will be fine. VBSEO + link building + good content = great results.

Now I would definitely buy that for $150.

Yeah from all that I have read the same thing has been mentioned. vBSEO does help but is no miracle script. I am sure any negative comments at least were partly because people expected it to take care of all SEO once installed.

I am definitely going to give it a try. My forum is worth the investment and if nothing else I will have it installed and I can then look at other ways to improve my SEO.
