Actually, none of those would be under "SEO" that would be SEM (Search Engine Marketing)

SEO is anything you do to your own website, this would include researching which keywords are good for your niche..

Than setting up a unique Title and META Description on every single page. You can also spend some time on your META Keywords, but they are not as important.

You than want to put some quality content that is using the keywords you found from the tool I posted.

Two things you need to do if you want to optimise your sites

On Page search engine optimization. Involves identifying the keywords that you want your site to rank well for and writing you pages in a mnner that reflects this. Tips at On page SEO guide

Backlinks. also refered to as popularity. Get as many relevant anchor text links from other sites to yours

Takes time for you to see results but worth investing time and effort in

Search engine optimization is very important for your website, there are a few components of search engine optimization that you need to consider when in the planning phases of your marketing.

1, Keyword Phrase- Each keyword phrase must be identified for each page that you are want to optimize for search. That particular phrase should be in the title tags for that page and mentioned at least a couple of times off the page as well. You need to be able to clearly tell the search engines what that page is about and this is what does the job.

2, Content- You need to make sure that your website is content rich, content simply means relevant useful information in your niche that people will appreciate. Remember that Google is providing a product to their customers and that is relevant results. So in order to get listed in their product you need to help them satisfy their users. You are actually sharing customers with the search engines.

3, Backlinks- Backlinks are simply mentions of your website on other relevant sites. When your site is mentioned on another website online, it shows that your website is "important" in your niche and the search engines will give more weight to your site with the more relevant links that you have. So make sure you are not an island online and socialize with other sites that are related to your niche and you guys can all get noticed!

Keep these factors in mind while optimizing for the search engines and you will be ahead of the game.

You have to determine what keyword/phrase you want, optimize your webpage for those keywords and then get links with that anchor text; such as you have done with your signature. I'm guessing you already know how to do SEO?

The best way to SEO your site is to add good quality content. It really doesn't matter what you do if you don't have content. After you have content, then you want to bring the people to discuss it. The first thing I would do is create a site map and submit it to all the major engines. Then I would go around and work on submitting my site to all the minor engines. Let the search engines know your there. And use good keyword rich descriptions to target your niche. But, you can go on for days on how to SEO. Just get your content first then worry about getting people to see it.

Search Google, read articles about SEO, research some more, implement what you learned, test the tips and note down the results. In Search Engine Optimization, it's all about learning, testing and making a note of tips and tricks which fetch you good results.

Basically, SEO is divided into two main categories, 1. On-page optimization 2. Off-page optimization. I think, It's better for both of us if you read the wikipedia entry about SEO.
