Well, mine just updated... to PR5!

No update for me, still at PR4 although I have gained over 100 backlinks from PR4-7 websites.

PR0 to PR3 and I only bought it 6 weeks ago. Plus I'm only advertising through sig links at the moment here and at two other sites plus four topsites. Not many link backs are needed for some reason. It's strange how it works.

Pagerank, even though if you have a high one which results in getting to the top of Google for your keyphrase does not always reflect the amount of traffic you're getting - around 20% of mine is from Google. But remeber, Google isn't the only search engine in existance. Only optimize for Google and you are throwing out many visitors. Optimize your SEO for all the engines, not just Google - as these can sometimes bring in a lot of traffic.

For example, after going through many pages on Google, trying to find my site on the results for the HIGHLY competitive keyword "Computer Forums", I didn't see my site.

But on MSN, I'm on the second page. I know that the second page isn't the best, but it is bringing in a fair bit of traffic. If I get on the first page for the keyphrase "computer forums" on MSN, I bet I would get a huge increase of traffic.

So remember, PR isn't the only thing to indicate a website's traffic or wether it's good.

How do you "Only optimize for Google"?? I'm curious how someone could set up there site to be optimized for one search engine to the exclusion of others?

Wow, I only started my site a couple of weeks ago, just before the update. No time to work on backlinks to increase pagerank. Maybe next time around.

What I meant was people trying to increase their PageRank, and only attempting to get to the top of Google, not any other search engines. After all, there are hundreds of search engines - and there are at least ten popular ones.

None of the other ones have a way of keeping score though so PageRank is quite an interesting thing to watch. Besides this is a post about Google PR specifically not about getting to the top of search engines (even google).
MSN is the biggest SEO on my site and I'll on top page of both google and MSN for "Scottish Topics" but I'm still pleased I've went from 0 to 3 on a six week old domain.
