Hi there,
since I'm in the process of reconsidering my whole web hosting situation (I'm with Bluehost with most of my sites/forums), this is another thing that I've been thinking about.
Up until now I've always used one host for both the domain and the web space.
But I keep hearing of people using one company for webspace and using GoDaddy or NameCheap (or whatever) for their domains.
The only advantage I can see is that if something goes wrong with the webspace, you can instantly redirect your users to another server or something or even just a "please wait" page.
But other than that, what are the pros and cons of using a seperate domain registrar?

I suggest that you do seperate your domains and your hosting company for the following reasons:
-Usually, it's cheaper
-You can take advantage of various features such as hidden whois that your host may or may not offer
-If you decide to move hosts, your host may decide to hold your domains hostage and refuse to change the nameservers [which is how you move your domain between hosts]
-You usually have to pay a transfer fee to move domains between registars which usually the cost of a year's domain renewal [IIRC, your year starts from the date the domain is transfered] - a host may decide to charge extra for allowing the domain to be moved.
