![]() | Moving database files to another server I have everything moved over from one server to the next aside from my 400-something posts and my members. How do I move them over? I am using 1and1.com. They're pretty decent and I have access to phpMyAdmin. I have tried exporting the database files from my other server and then importing them into the new one (not sure if that's what I needed to do or not) and this is the error I get... SQL query: -- phpMyAdmin SQL Dump -- version 2.6.4-pl3 -- http://www.phpmyadmin.net -- -- Host: db0000.perfora.net -- Generation Time: Feb 21, 2008 at 12:56 PM -- Server version: 5.0.51 -- PHP Version: 4.3.10-200.schlund.1 -- -- Database: `db228880000` -- CREATE DATABASE `db228880000` DEFAULT CHARACTER SET latin1 COLLATE latin1_german2_ci MySQL Said: #1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'DEFAULT CHARACTER SET latin1 COLLATE latin1_german2_ci' at line Last edited by tsg; 02-21-2008 at 07:30 PM. ![]() | I am in desperate need of a solution by this weekend. If anyone has even an idea of what I might be able to do, I would be very grateful. |

| Member | How large is the database? Do you happen to have access to SSH to prepare a proper dump of the database SQL? Feel free to PM me if you're still having issues.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Just to let you know - the maximum database size you can have with 1&1 is 100MB. If you're moving to them, and the database is over 100mb, then there will be problems.

![]() | Try doing a dump from shell as previously recommended, and report back. |

![]() | If you are using Cpanel, create the database. Do not add tables, just import the database from your old server. What you do is, save the database from your old server to your PC and then use the import future to import the tables and data. You should do this via phpadmin. Make sure the database is empty before doing the import if not you will get error message.
