What's most important in a host?

If you were to make a list of the top 10 (or less) things that are very important to you from a webhost, what would they be?

The most important for me is uptime. If my host is OK, I don't have reasons to use the support too many times Then we have the support (when the uptime "fails"). and of course a decent price, otherwise I wouldn't use that host

1). Guaranteed Uptime

- - This should be a standard anymore. Too many hosts advertise guaranteed uptime, yet 90% fail to even come close to what they advertise to their customers.

2). Guaranteed *Knowledgeable* Support

- - Too many web hosting companies outsource their support, too many web hosts hire "kiddies" and expect work to get done. Personally, I find that if a member of your technical support team cannot configure a server, administer a server using SSH and configure a hosting account without the need for automatic setup using CPanel or another control panel software, they don't need to be an employee. It's that simple.

Too many web hosts simply 'make due' with staff members that are simply they to cover the bases. When a customer actually has a question about an issue, they are given a short, quick answer that is not only uninformative, but just about plain useless.

Detail is key when solving any issue. If a web host requires that you provide details on the issue, the web host should provide details on what the issue was and how they fixed it not state simply "the issue has been fixed."

3). Quality Hardware

Too many start-up hosts attempt to host clients on a single processor unit with 1GB of RAM while the processor is running at around 2GHz. Unless you're hosting static websites with little traffic, a few busy websites will turn the server over . Do your research and act on it.

4). True 24/7 Support

This is a given for any hosting company. If my website goes down at 4:00am, I want to know someone is there to pickup the phone or answer my e-mail within a few minutes, not in a few hours or when they feel they have the time.

The actual features included can vary, they are less important than the above honestly. If I could find a host with the above and more, they'd gain my business, but I've yet to see that happen .

I've yet to come across a host that I didn't have *some* issue with at some point . For all others, I am simply waiting .

My most important are:
Support Levels
I'm not expecting 24/7 support, but that's great. As long as there's a way to report urgent messages then I'm fine.

Capabilities - Try new things
I also look at whats offered how many dbs, subdomains etc. And are they foward thinkers - my host ASO has went ahead and installed RoR and Python for users because they try new things

Price

If it's too expense then, bye bye
