I hope that this isn't treated as me advertising as I really don't care if anyone signs up or anything like that, I get nothing out of it. I just thought I would share information on a quick, cheap and reliable Web Hosting and Domain Registrar currently located in Australia, soon to expand to the US.

I work in Tech Support for a company in Australia called Webcity. The company has just started to expand to the US. We offer cheap (yet still reliable) hosting and domain name solutions. The reason for its discounted price is because it's 'Self Service Hosting'. This basically means that we offer support for our servers and issues like that, but don't offer free support for other things, like help with Scripts or other end user issues. So for most of the people who would be doing Admin work on forums etc would probably know enough about Web Hosting to be able to take advantage of not paying for extra support you don't really need.

By now you guys are probably thinking 'Just bloody tell us how much!' Well I thought I would save the best for last.

Good deal, Tim, looks pretty good...although, the support you provide actually sounds similar to the support that many other hosting companies provide. Maybe it's just because I don't use support for this, but I wouldn't ever expect any host to help me install a script or set it up. I would expect them to do whatever server-side to make sure that it's ready to be installed...but the installation itself rests on me. I also don't expect a host to help me troubleshoot problems with a script...if, for example, I couldn't get my vBulletin layout to display properly.

Am I interpreting incorrectly?

Yes you have interpreted it correctly. I didn't really explain it all too well but we don't do things like help people configure their Mail Clients or things like that.

Haha. You would be surprised how many people ring up about stupid things and expect us to walk them through everything. Things like setting permissions on files, they don't have everything uploaded correctly, they are using their domain management login to try and access cPanel (We have 2 totally different logins). Just stuff that everyone receives in an email but just doesn't take the time to read.

Yeah, again, it may just be me...I don't need my host(s) to help me with file/script issues like that, and I've always assumed that they are not supposed to help me with it either...Maybe most hosts will help their customers with installation and what not, I dunno
