Domain Name Advice.

When purchasing a domain name, would you rather have a non-.com, or a dash in the name?

For example, would you choose

keywordforum.net

or

keyword-forum.com

?

Thanks for your advice.

I would definitely prefer a name without a, "-". I don't know; I've always felt that the dash is completely unnecessary...and it elongates the domain name. The only time I would use a dash, however, is if I wanted a domain name, but it was not available in the original form. For example, if I really, really wanted chickentalk.com, but it wasn't available in that form, I would probably go with chicken-talk.com, if available. Again, that is only if I really, really wanted the domain.

jijo will become famous soon enough

without "-" is prefered, but look around and you will find many sites "-" in the name doing extremely well. One worst and best name example is "canon forums"

This is what I meant to say.

If I want keywordforum.com, but that is taken. Would you prefer to have keywordforum.net, or keyword-forum.com. Or keyword1-keyword2.com, it doesn't have to be forum.

Without a dash I say. You would be surprised how that little dash can decrease a value of a domain. I like .net but like .com and .co.uk as well.

Why not buy both and choose to market one and redirect the other?

In this case, I would prefer to have keywordforum.net. The dash in the domain name listed above just doesn't fit nicely.
