Join Date: May 2006 Posts: 213 Location: UK | Something I would recommend if you want to learn is get an old PC and install linux along with apache, mysql, php etc. You will learn more when you set them up yourself. Also having a local webserver is great for testing stuff on. I like it particularly for testing php scripts and stuff, i just save the files directly to the servers hard drive and test through a browser without having to mess about with ftp uploading.

I myself had this choice of going to dedicated or vps i went with the vps to start with to see how it went. I then went on to get a dedicated about 3-4 months of getting the vps account never looked back since it may cost a bit but worth it i have most my site run off it and also still got the vps account for hosting some other sites my main sites are on the dedicated server. The running of the dedicated server is very easy so far anyway not had any problems with it and my host is always there to help out if i am not sure. I am sure people here could help you out some of the reply here have given you ideas as well. | ||||
