Need opinions on getting a new host

Anyone here ever had any expierience with HostRocket

Right now I'm with GoDaddy and I've heard A LOT of bad things about them over the past year and my site has been running extremely slow the past couple days.

Any opinions on Host Rocket?

We need a little more info. What are you looking to spend? How much space/bandwidth do you need? Do you want Plesk or Cpanel?

Don't go with sites that give you 100GB of space and 10TB bandwidth for $5 a month. That's my only real advice.

-I've also heard great things about A Small Orange, you might want to go with them.

ASmallOrange.com is great as is WireNine.com.

As with the above, I'd steer clear of web hosts offering the world for nothing. In all reality, your not going to be able to use the full package specifications from a host offering 10-100GB's of disk space and 100-1,000GB's of bandwidth if on a shared hosting package (which is what HR offers).

Given that, you'd probably even be pressed to be able to use that on a VPS, unless it's a reputable host offering the package and you've investigated the host a bit.

If you really need multiple gigs of disk space and hundreds to thousands of gigs of bandwidth, you need a dedicated server, or multiple dedicated servers. Shared hosting simply isn't intended to offer nor cater to such high needs, regardless of what some web hosting providers want you to think.

ASmallOrange.com does seem to have a very good reputation, and many people love them, althoguh they have always seemed a bit on the expensive side to me. Although you do get what you pay for. i for one would recomend Servage, as they have good support, and are cheap!
