Hmmm well I thought only developed domains made a tidy profit. I also have vbulletin-wiki.com parked too.

As for my new business, well it's nothing fancy, just going to start off with vBulletin styles and graphics (obviously these will be created by me) and then if all goes well I will branch out into custom design and other web design/graphic work.

I was just being a visionary. There may come a day when someone may have a vested interest in acquiring a domain called myvbulletinstyles.com. And you'll have it. Like the guys who make a million dollars selling the rights to domain names to new businesses. Ever notice how ALL the really good domains are taken? This isn't just a matter of course and attrition. The domain registration companies and other 'speculators' reserve or buy up blocks of commercially attractive domain names, and wait for suckers -uh, I mean people - to come knocking at their doors.

Personally I am greatly perturbed to have to pay some private company for the right to use a domain name I invent. It seems somehow not right. Especially when they blackmail you into paying a yearly additional, often 100% markup fee, to keep your private information private. The scum!

Uh, oh. I think I see a new forum topic brewing in my fevered brain...lol

lol

Well maybe I'll keep hold of it... do you think it's worth me actively trying to sell it as an undeveloped domain, or should I develop a basic website to go with it?

Do you have any projects on the web at the moment? I'd like to see some of your work. Web and graphic design is one of my hobbies. I find it quite relaxing and intellectually stimulating.

I definitely would hold onto those domains as well, as they can be quite valuable, they have good potential.

I can see vBulletin Wiki succeding, if you put effort into it.

Brandr, most of my stuff has been for practice so far. Now, I'm working on my personal blog and on the business. After that I'll be releasing some free styles and graphics and distributing them on the various vBulletin sites including this one to let people know that Silver Firefly Studios are on the scene. Other than that there isn't anything else because it was just practice stuff.

bdude, yeah - I got that domain because I noticed there was a lack of a dedicated vBulletin tutorial site that would teach people just about everything to do with vBulletin including the more advanced stuff. So I will develop that domain when I have time (I have quite a few projects lined up after I'm done with the two projects that I'm working on right now). I would need help with it though as running a site like that could become a full time job even while I try to sell it. The idea requires more thought though.

I've decided to change the name from Silver Firefly Studios to Netcom Studios because it's more brandable. I have great plans for the business and a brandable name has become more important as a result.

As for the other vBulletin domain - I've also acquired talkvbulletin.net which I plan to develop into a vBulletin fansite with a difference whenever I have the time. I'll probably sell it for a profit after I've developed it.
