Domain prices going up

I just got this email from NameCheap:
Quote:
Domain registries VeriSign(.com, .net tld's), Afilias(.info tld),
Neulevel (.biz tld)and Public Interest Registry(.org tld)applied for and
received price increases and have announced they will be raising their
wholesale prices to all registrars including us.
NameCheap are putting there domains up 41cents, I haven't got any such email from GoDaddy though.

Its not the individual hosts increasing it.

The cost increases are necessary to pay for the increased volume of domain name system queries, the company asserts.

I thought the domain names were cheap anyways, so this increase wont make any difference.

Most are pretty cheap, like 1and1 was only $5.99 before this so $6.99 isn't much either. I hope GoDaddy doesn't increase theirs.

In the grand scheme of it all, domains are not that expensive at all. Plus with all the discount coupons and codes, they are still cheap in my mind.

C'mon for those of you that drink the lattes and that stuff, you'll just have to cut back on a couple of them just to pay for a domain now.

I agree...Compared to hosting, software, advertising, etc...Even 10 bucks a year for a domain is still dirt cheap. I honestly wouldn't care about domain prices unless they started to creep to $20 or more.
