One never knows. Sometimes people don't check their email or it changes. I recently wanted to buy a domain. (An expensive one so I was going through a broker.) The guy didn't even answer emails for a month. Finally, they got hold of the guy by other means and we were able to negotiate something.

Also, GoDaddy is fairly bright. They probably think of customers in terms of lifetime relationships. Since they likely have a highly efficient call center it's not a big incremental cost to make a call. As with most businesses, the cost of getting customers is way more than the cost of trying to keep them.

Well, I have about 5 that will expire December, early January, no call yet...
Although I am in the UK, so they might think it is not worth the cost of an international call.

it would cost me A$1.93/min to call you on my landline ($48.13 for half an hour), $2.60/min on my mobile.

It may also be a reflection of the timeframe you had the names registered for - if you buy them in one year increments then probably you won't get a call, but if you get them in five year blocks then it isn't surprising.

Personally I have over this last year transferred every domain I own into my GoDaddy account so that now all my domains (60+) are managed in one place.

I thought that was pretty strange. They obviously would like for me to renew, but it's only 5 domains, and it's not as if I'm a heavy domain buyer - I probably have 15-20 domains through them.

Surely they have better things to be doing than calling average domain owners begging them to renew
Nope, they call me about each one, and I've only got 8 or so. That is one thing that I do like, they have good customer service.

Godaddy is a nightmare, i've not been called but i have recently lost a couple good domains because i was unable to renew them because i did'nt have a creditcard attached to my paypal account

I have since moved everything over to namecheap, namecheap is by far the best registra! So simple and dont have restrictions.
