| getting a VPS Okay, my host told me I need to upgrade to a VPS because I'm using to much of the CPU memory. However, their VPS plans are not managed. So I'd have to manage this myself. What does this mean? How difficult is it? Thanks, Daniel  | ||||

Join Date: Sep 2005 Posts: 10,246 Location: Athens, GA   | If you don't know anything about servers, it can be pretty difficult...If they're able to install some sort of front-end for you (ie: cPanel), it will be a little bit easier, but you're still going to be in trouble when more complicated issues crop up. If you don't know servers and they can't install cPanel, this is not even an option. If I were you, unless their prices are just wonderful, I'd look for a different, managed VPS

| Just found out it does come with cpanel installed, which will automatically update things like php/apache on the occasion their needed. Any "non-standard" features I'd have to install myself. | ||||
