some questions about a VPS

Hey there,
thanks for your help everyone
I am thinking of getting a VPS. and there are a ton of options that I dont know about. I am going to get the VPS from vexxhost, and i will be getting the Value plan.
Is that enough RAM?
I have the option of a few different control panels.... i am thinking of VHCS, but does anyone know anything about webmin or lxadmin?
also. does anyone have a VPS from vexxhost, and are they happy with it????
Thanks

You would be better off getting a shared or a reseller hosting account!

Value plan from that host contains 128MB of dedicated RAM, which I don’t think would be sufficient for running the OS, Apache, MYSQL and a control panel and respond to even moderate level of traffic. Frankly he would get much better performance on a shared server that isn’t oversold quite a bit.

A VPS has the potential to provide better performance over shared and reseller (which are typically hosted on the same server setup anyway, with most providers), however, you're not really going to see any performance gain from a VPS with 128-256MB of RAM, at least, not if you're going to be running a control panel as well.

If you're thinking of running CPanel, it basically requires 256MB's of RAM to fully function correctly in a VPS environment. Without a dedicated 256-512MB's of RAM (not burstable), I'd X Out CPanel as a control panel for a VPS.

You have to allow for the processes, the control panel daemons and so forth and you're going to be running nearly max memory with such a low amount of ram. Factor in traffic, scripting and any type of caching you may wish to use and you're maxed.
