Server recommendations

II am looking for a small dedicated server option, or possibly a VPS. My site has outgrown regular shared hosting and I cant afford the continual slowdowns that show up in that environment anymore.

I use about 15Gig of bandwidth on my slow months, and as high as 45 on my busy months. That was last year, I am expecting to get nearer to 80-90 Gig later this year.

Teh Planet is where I would like to eventually land my site(s), but I can justify the cost right now. I am seeing VPS options for around $50 per month, but have never used VPS hosting.

Anybody here use VPS and have good luck with them? Or smaller dedicated servers that they would recommend?

Regarding the VPS, I have already told you I think Servint is the absolute best in that arena. They were amazing to work with.

Regarding Dedicated / Cheap, I found this for you...might be a good option:

That one may be even better, definitely cheaper.

Thanks. I think I will move to Servint for the time being with my football site.

Only problem is they cant do the move. They have instructions listed somewhere, but I am a little worried about doing it.

Any qualified people here wanna give me a quote?

Well, thanks once again for the advice, Lee.

I put in my order for one of the Servint VPS machines this evening, and look forward to my confirmation email later on this morning. I have the guy lined up to switch everything over for me on Saturday and cant wait to see the difference.

With any luck, by the end of this year (well, actually after the end of the 2006 football season), I can move on up to one of those big bad machines you pointed me out to.

I know you already bought your VPS, but I was wondering how much ram your VPS has. I wouldn't recommend running a VPS with less than 256mb of ram or you could run into problems.

512 guaranteed with a 2 gig burst.

The speed of my site is dramatically faster than what I was dealing with previously.

Yes, and by the time I reach traffic levels that cause problems for this server, I am hoping to be on a dedicated server that is much larger.
