What do you look for in hosting?

Join Date: Jun 2006 Posts: 96  | What do you look for in hosting? What do you base your hosting choice on? Support, Price, Features ? I recently moved to a new host because the old one didnt offer addon domains. The prices were low too. In addition, I always look for addon scripts (fantastico, cpskins etc). Also, are there any specific features that you look for? Fantastico, Addon Domains, No. of SQL dbs. etc?

Join Date: Feb 2006 Posts: 37 | Addon scripts like fantastico are just one of those fancy freebes they throw in to make their packages sound more appealing, they are all free scripts that you can get online. The key points you want in a host is, a good upkeep of software both for security and features. Decent response time, and decent uptime. | ||||

Join Date: Feb 2006 Posts: 37 | Determing price is hard though on what to pay, just think about it realisticly, You can't walk into a car dealership, get the top end modle, fully loaded, with unlimited gas for 20 years, for 100 bucks a month. Just like theres no such thing as unlimited storage or bandwidth. These are gimmicks and cannot possibly be met. I had a kid I know say he could offer me unlimited bandwidth and storage for 20US a month, So I showed him the site I'd like to host, he replied it'd take up too much bandwidth wtf eh? | ||||

| with my host, its secure, perfect for my purpose and its cheap. i also know the owner of the site so i can imediate support when needed too. im very happy with i got. so what i look for are the ones that have a bit of everything for the right price. | ||||
