Its free but it does not support DNS, Search Engines can crawl a website properly with a free domain....but if you dont cre much about SEO than free domains is fine

i think dot tk is not very good.
it add a dot.tk bar above your website, very annoying according to my experience.

If you're going to get a domain, it's not worth it if you don't get at least the possibility of custom nameservers. I wouldn't even take a free name if I wouldn't be able to use my own nameservers.

I once had a .tk, and their service was horrible... eventually I gave up on them and went to .co.nr. I suggest .co.nr, that's what I did until I could get a domain.

I don't agree. You can get free domain with full control and without need to post or carry ads from http://domainspeaks.com
No catch, no hidden agenda.
Just you need to be eligible as per criteria listed on their site.

I got networldtalk.net from domainspeaks within 3 days...its not a hassle..just answer the quizzes and thats it. Get all the answers right and you will get the domain but you MUST HAVE AN EXISTING SITE! I hate those forums that make us post for domains...now thats a hassle.

.tk, .co.nr and all other free domains put off many people, particularly if you are aiming towards a web-savvy audience. It's much better to spend a little on a real domain, and decent hosting, than to use free services and wonder why nobody bothers with your forum.
