I will be moving servers by August to get more out of my money. Not to mention that my current server loads never go under 1 as is now. It is limping along. I will be using: Servstra AMD Servers More than likely a 64 Bit 3200 with 2GB of RAM. However I can not get a price at this time since they are not taking new orders till the 12th of July. | ||||

Title: Administrator Join Date: Sep 2005 Posts: 10,246 Location: Athens, GA ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Forums can be expensive, yes...however...if a forum requires a dedicated server, that also means that it is bringing a lot of traffic...Enough traffic that if it is monetized correctly, can bring in far more revenue than needed to cover the costs...in fact, forums that are on dedicated machines are going to be the forums that see the most profits - that is, of course, assuming that the owners/admins place ads in the forums. Think of it like this...every visitor that comes to a forum will add $2 of revenue potential but only cost $1 for server resources (those numbers are obviously fake, but that is the basic concept behind this)
