Bandwidth..

How much would 50Gig(GB) bandwidth cover for?

I mean, if I host a forum, how many members could visit each month?
(Since I guess that those 50Gig will fill up after 1 month).

50 gigs of bandwith is alot!

Most small forums, use maybe about 1-2 gigs a month. If you are just starting out, unless you have some kind of secret to share, you will not use 50 gigs a month for a long time.

I have 5Gig per month, and 30 members, about of which ten are regulars. it usually uses the entire 5Gig, so you should be able to get at least 1000 Members, Theoretically.....

Yep, forums are not very bandwidth intensive at all - the only way that you're really going to go through a lot of bandwidth would be if you host a lot of images, downloads, games, etc.

We're doing about 20gb of bandwidth per month at AF, if that gives you an idea...and we've done a lot of downloading/uploading for transfers, mergers, testing, etc...in addition to the skins that we have for download.

Way more than enough, according to Ryans Infomation, you could host 2 forums as active as AF at the same time!

it would also depend on the types of files you let users upload and download (large files) my forum has some large files on it and on average it uses 10-13gigs of bandwidth each month.

I believe it also depends if you enable (server dependent) GZIP, i beleive it compresses things, at least, thats what it says on my phpBB installation, and some SMF installation, but i dont gurantee its true....

You probably want to go with something lower. My forum had about 20 posts a day and recieved about 500 daily hits (hits, not uniques*) and it only used a gig a month in addition to the main website.

*I wish.
