Poor Server?

| Poor Server? For the past 10 Hours my servers status has come up as this, (see below picture) Yet my forum functions fine, at no loss, and all features and functions seem to work? Is this a poor server i soud be wary of, or will it not affect me? (zoom picture for better view)

| That is weird. with httpd down the server shouldn't be able to handle http requests so no-one should be able to see your site. with MySQL failed you shouldn't be able to get to your database and with Memory Used at 99.9% and swap at 100% used you should be having timeouts. Not to mention all the other fails. And yet I can access your site as well. Very strange, must just be the stat script has failed or something, but I'd get onto your host about it striaht away. | ||||

| Okay, Its Exactly the same, and i have not received a reply from the host. Ive also noticed, my Bandwith usage is not increasing either, but the MySQL Database Size counter IS. There appears To be random things failing, or stopping to count everywhere. However my forum is yet to go down. Current server stats are in the attachment, accoring to it, almost everything has failed, the only thing i notice DOES changes is the server load counter.

| Sounds like Cpanel is funky and reporting things wrong. I seriously doubt you are using all your memory and all your swap space. Your server would be at its knees begging to be turned off. | ||||

| Update: about a week has passed, all is the same, Server is been reported as almost 75% failed, my bandwith useage still hasnt increased, and still no reply too emails ive sent. Any ideas?

If I were you, I'd find a new host before it's too late...I realize performance might be fine now, but this is not a good sign...I would be more concerned with the host which will not reply to your emails than I would the server reports.

| Myself and my Co-Admin are working oon the possibility of using my own PC to host it. As it woould appear that host has gone funky (Blame the Funky on BamaStangGuy)

Join Date: Sep 2005 Posts: 10,246 Location: Athens, GA | Using your own PC is an even worse idea unless you have very stable hardware on an ultra-fast connection...your household DSL/cable will not do it. Dont think that your 2ghz pentium with 1gb ram is going to be able to run your forums either...there is much much more to it than that...speed and hardware is not even taking into account the server-side software that you need to set up for this and all of the maintenance/security/upgrades that go along with this. Save yourself a lot of headaches and a lot of downtime by paying $5/month for a reliable, shared host.
