Well, I think that the idea behind it is great...in fact, something that all of us should be doing more of!

I also think that you probably should have customized the messages a little bit to make them more sincere...because if I were on the receiving end of that PM, it would look very much like you just sent out a mass-PM to everybody with the same thing...that message just doesn't appeal to me personally...Maybe you should include something personal in each PM...say thanks for "xxxxx" thread or "I remember when you..." Something like that to make it seem like you have actually noticed that person.

I love the idea...if you hadn't posted it at AF, I'd do this for our loyal members...but since you've posted it, it kind of loses its mojo

Yes, next time i do it, i will customize it slightly more, currently the only customization is the members name, i didnt mass pm, they were all wrote seperatly, just copied and pasted, and send to name chane, an thhhe PM message name changed.

Thats very nice of you CK, if i recieved it would make me feel like the admin 'notices' or 'cares' that i am a loyal member there. I agree with Ryan, bit more customized would be nice, but the thought still counts!

You definitely have the right idea, I think you just need to be a bit more... dramatic. Something like:
Quote:
[Username],

Hi [username]! Don't worry, you're not in trouble or anything. I would just like to commenerate you for your wonderful service to the [your forum name here].

[Your forum name] has a goal [and that is...], and I'm very grateful that you're helping me so much in accomplishing that goal.

Thanks again,
[your username]
Hmm, I need to save that

Yes customized messages would have been better but that would also take more time. It's actually a great idea and you got me a good idea now!

I think you are on to something there. I think this is something we all neglect to do. We take that coming to our forums for granted and without the members there would be no forums.
