I can't help it, I'm already thinking of another forum idea and this one just came to me as i was wading through The Pit for some decent writing. The Pit for those of you not familiar is fanfiction.net It's hugely popular, ginormous even, and yet it's gotten it's nickname from all the horrid stories posted there. Diamonds in the rough can be found, but they are rare. This got me thinking, wouldn't it be nice if there was a central forum to find fanfic on various generes as well as writing tips, beta readers wanted/needed section and a whole host of other nifty stuff, along with a community that promoted GOOD writing and not just bad!fic. Fanfic is like crack for many people, it hooks you and you get addicted. A good story is like magic, a bad one makes you want to bleach your brain. But all in all, this is a BIG market. Just a quick look at the Pit and you'll see how many people are interested in this. Here's my potential problem, every show basically has their own forum for fic already. There's hundreds of fic forums out there all geared toward specific shows or even toward specific pairings. Most of the good writers already post their stories on their respective forums, although people do cross post all the time. I just wonder if my idea is really needed and able to succeed because it may be too broad. (focusing on fic for all shows and not just one) I think it's got potential, especially if I can do what FF.net does, but only better. Because they have zero competition aside from the smaller forums on each show. I don't think anyone has even attempted to create another central archive in forum format and actually make a community out of it. (although I could be wrong on that, I just haven't found any) What do you think? Potential winner? Horrid idea? Be honest. Any thoughts on a domain? I was thinking of going with fanfictionlounge.com But I'm still not sure....just thinking out loud here. Would appreciate any thoughts on this. | ||||

I think there is plenty of potential there, and even better is that you have a genuine interest in it...That is one of the most important things when running a forum for the long run. I say go for it, and I too like the domain
