Writing up an email....

I'm writing up an email to the owner of a rather dead forum, enquiring about merging it into mine.
Any ideas how to go about writing it to look professional?

I'd avoid saying stuff like 'your forum looks pretty quiet...'. I'd aproach it something like 'I have a proposition for you that could benefit bolth of our forums...' and then go into details from there.

I completely agree. You don't want to approach them and piss them off by saying some nasty things about their forums. Be polite and see if they are interested in a merge.

I would put an offer which he simply could not refuse. It should be a win-win situation for both the parties and the benefits should be measurable. Otherwise one might feel he/she is being taken up granted. Make the other party comfortable and you have won him.
