| Bad idea? Well, my friend is considering getting into the forum business. However, he doesnt believe in a forum hierarchy, and thinks everyone should be moderators, and whatnot....Ive tried telling him it aint a good idea, but he aint having any of it. So could you please tell me your thoughts. P.S this thread might be shown to him

| The only way that could ever possibly work and be stable is if every member knows each other very well, and are very good friends, and you NEVER get anyone new sign up. If he does go forward with his idea, he'll soon find out that so much SPAM will be present, that a sense of community will be nill, and noone will want to contribute good content, because it will be overtaken by SPAM. I think that it would be interesting to do that to see how fast it would fill up with SPAM, and how quickly it would gain users. I think I'll try it just to see. | ||||

Join Date: Oct 2006 Posts: 186 | Okay, so I did it. I just got a new domain last night that I won't be doing anything with for awhile, so I mad a SPAM forum to see how fast it fills up. I edited the permissions to allow the members most of the admin's features, but not all of them. I don't want to market this other than word of mouth, so anytime you get spammed, send them to the forum. I will keep it up for 2 or 3 weeks to see how much traffic it gets, and to see how effective it is. http://www.myspacehelmet.com | ||||
