Forum & Blog Comparison

Did you ever notice how similar forums and blogs are? Id even go as far as to say that blogs are a specialized application of the forum concept. Think about it... thread title is the name of the blog (ie. Bob's Financial Blog)... and each post in that thread would be each post of the blog (ie. today i went to the bank etc.) and you can easily embed pictures, links, etc into each post. What are your thoughts on this?

I like to think as forums as more of a massive IM conversation that moves a lot slower

You can easily get the best of both worlds by adding a blog section to your forums. As you said, it's very similar. They will think they're posting a blog, when really it's just more forum posts

Forums and blogs are similar, yes, but they have far more distinct differences...Forums provide many more possibilities and freedom for its users (anybody can start a new topic, unlike with most blogs)...Forums are far more interactive than blogs. Blogs are typically reading material whereas forums are user-driven.
