| Spam Bot Archive Since my forum has just been hit with a Tsunami of spam bots (3 or more a day) I've decided to deal with it in a new fashion. See, I love spam bot posts, they rarely make no sense and have god awful grammar. So, I have decided to archive them  There's a new section where all spam bot posts will be moved to (after having their links removed and such). Members can reply to them, and poke fun at the stupid posts and products. Lets them have some fun, and revenge  Of course I've disabled posts adding to their count though. What do you think of my new way of dealing with the spambots?  | ||||

| LOL! Very...strange, and new way to face it, but i love it, especially if it is realy people, and they come back to see this wave of criticism at this spam post they thought was brilliant.

Join Date: Sep 2005 Posts: 10,246 Location: Athens, GA | I think it's actually a very bad idea...Spam bots not only spam your forums to show their URL's to your visitors, but they spam your forums to get their URL's indexed by search engines...Believe me, you do not want your forums to become a popular spot for search engines to send people searching for things such as pharmaceuticals and viagra. When spam bots start to notice that you actually let them spam your forums and leave their spam in tact, they're going to start coming more and more in numbers.

Spam does nothing but trash your forums...You delete it so that your members don't have to deal with it...If all you do is move it to another section, your members will still see it and read it...not to mention, spam bots do not have any feelings, so they're not going to care if you make fun of them. They already know that they are hated - they don't need for you to confirm that  I dunno...if you wanna do it, go for it, I just don't see any reasons to do it.

| Yes, I agree with you now Ryan. In the end it doesn't make much sense. I've purged all the 1 posts or less accounts, and deleted all the spam evidence. Since then, our spam has gone down a bit, but not much Also brought our member count from 400 to 157  | ||||
