At what point would/did you need to hire a Paid staff member?

I see people post on forums such as these saying they have 50, 60, 80+ websites, and I can't fathom having to keep tabs on all of them. As what point did you, or do you think you would have to hire someone to help keep things maintained?

The sites these people are talking about maintain themselves. Typically they are very low resource sites that have a few ads on them. Some people prefer quantity over quality, whereas some compare quality over quantity. I prefer the latter.

Now, nobody can actually run 50, 60, 80+ of their own forums. That's not humanly possible. I would consider, 5, 6, and 8+ more realistic. Here it is also personal...it depends on how much time the person has, how far they wish to take the forums, and how many responsibilities they have. Me personally, I can't bring myself to run more than one forum at a time. I like to put 100% of my time and effort into one forum...I feel like if I developed any more forums, I would hurt the other.

Again, just personal preference, some people like the idea of running 5 different forums.

well, I know some one who runs several websites. But, not forums... forums are quite a bit harder to maintain, especially while trying to run/build a website at the same time.

Forums require much more time and effort on your part, most websites can be put up and updated weekly or less and do well. But forums need daily moderating, not just weekly updates or feature additions.

If you tried to run even 15 forums on your own, you would probably go insane.

Thats funny, cause I was going to say the same thing. I could not imagine running another one unless I had someone else helping at least part-time or my first board was running "itself"

I wouldn't hire somebody to take care of my websites unless I had a whole bunch. I think that my moderators should help me run the show for free!

I do go insane with the 4 forums I own, and I am not the sole administrator on two of them.
