Is this possible, and practical?

Is this idea practical, and possible?

My idea is to create a forum (nothing special there then)
But, this forum would be a support forum for the popular forum software, this would definatly include, phpBB, MyBB, IPB, vBulletin & SMF. To do this i would need staff experienced on software, maybe a group of two staff on each software.

My question is, is this (A) Pratical, and possible (B) Is there a niche for such?

Thanks

I think it's a good idea, there are forums specifically for one type of forum software, so why not make one for multiple softwares?

I dunno. That's kind of like a sub-niche of forums like AF, and to make a forum for individual software is just pointless because there is absolutely no way you can compete with the actual creators of that software.

I actually think it's a pretty decent idea. I agree with Moelman; there are many forums dedicated to one brand of software, so why not create one that's dedicated to a variety of different forum software packages? Sure, there are the official company support forums, but many people find those too busy (and sometimes, too biased).

With a knowledgeable staff, good advertising, and a lot of dedication, this idea will definately work.

Chris

You can't say pointless, there are many vbulletin fan sites that are successful or have potential.

On the idea of packages, that changes things. If you release your own packages and have the download or demo link on your website, you'll get tons of unique visitors, which, although they may not be the best for your forum, will do wonders for your ad revenue. Maybe you'll want it to just be an all content site without a forum?

Interesting, you mean like a site, with a demo of everything?

OR, you could release modified packages of the free (and legally modifiable) forum software, as htmlmaster mentioned (a modified version of phpBB, a modified version of MyBB, etc). This would definately attract some attention.

Hmm, like a pre-modded version? Interesting, that would definatly generate attention. But that is not a one-man job, i would defo need coders for the software.....
