Alright, well, I'm planning to do a relaunch of my forums, and I've decided to make my own theme and logo. Problem is, I'm not exactly sure what my logo should look like.

My forums are basically a place where people can speculate about future/upcoming technology products, TV shows, movies, and also other things like politics. I'm not exactly sure what kind of logo I'm aiming for. (My previous logo/banner had a clock with changing times)

Any ideas?

Your forum will have such a huge niche that I suggest you just keep it really simple (like AF's logo). Just make sure it perfectly complements your forum theme and it'll look fine.

To me, that actually sounds more like a general discussion forum than a niche forum...Sounds like people can talk about whatever they want. You might want people to only discuss future events, but when you show them sections with all of those topics, they're going to talk about past, present, and future. Because the discussion is so general, I don't know that there really is one logo or type of logo that you should/could use.

Something as simple as portraits with talk bubbles over their heads would work...but you could also not have anything other than just text. Whatever you do, make sure that the logo fits the rest of the theme

Hmm... Yeah, I do see what you mean about the general discussion forum thing. The thing is, when I first tried the forum I did just choose one specific thing to talk about (technology), but a few of my users wanted these other topics too. And when I did just do technology, they talked about current/past and future technology, but they did so in the respective forums.

I still might stick with just technology-related speculation, but I'm not completely sure yet.

why not have like a wheel cog, spanner or hammer, speach bubbles, people, world ball or like a Book. You could use a lot of things but i agree, try to keep it simple.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I've come up with two different logos, one using a ball/orb with a speech bubble and an abstract one.




I kinda like both, but I might go with the first one.

Out of those two, I agree, 1st one.

I'd consider elaborating on the circle, maybe making it look sort of like the MSN guy, or at least something more human then just a circle. Maybe a light bulb in the speech bubble as well?
