Short Term Investments - Need Information

A partner and I are looking to launch a new project, which will remain confidential at the moment, however, we're looking for information on various short term investments.

We're looking to pool income to a short term investment to double or triple the money.

While I know google is available, I'd like to know if there is anyone here that has done the same and could provide information on such and possibly resources as well.

Of course, we're looking for a legal investment method (not that anyone would suggest otherwise, simply a statement of intent ).

We had actually looked into Prosper, however, given that you are providing a loan to an actual person, there isn't a guaranteed payback without the possibility of a hassle or loss of income.

I've dealt with bill collectors and collections. Going through a small claims court to have the money returned ends up costing more in the long run than it's actually worth.

I know they have a credit rating system, though that still does not guarantee a return on the investment.

While interest on such would be fitting, we're looking at a 20-30 day return as we wouldn't be able to keep the money invested long-term (i.e. 6-12 months or longer).

If the need arose, we'd need to drain the funding immediately, if not a few days after the 20-30 period.

Similar to what insurance companies do/use would be more fitting, though we don't have that type of portfolio available for such investments.

You could find someone who has an idea that you know will prosper and fund their website (which would have to be pretty cheap) and then collect 10% of the profits or something.

Otherwise, the only thing I can think of is the stock market.

Edit: After a second read of your last post, maybe that's not such a bright idea. www.earnersforum.com is probably a better place to look for this kind of information.

RE: Prosper

You could give small, low-interest loans of say $100-$500 across a few people. Generally loans are pretty stable.

20-30 day returns are pretty rough. A lot of loans or investments take longer to mature. Also what kind of return would you expect in such a short time frame? One place I can see the returns is in real estate. For example you'd find an investment property, get it under contract and then turn the contract over to someone else on closing day. Of course you need to know investors and find a great deal to get this to work.

For websites the only way I can see this happening is if your money is used on advertising besides that the timeframe is very short.
