I started my forums on 1st Jan. Currently I have around < 15 members but they rarely post on the forums. So I am planning to start a monthly newsletter to remind them about the site and happenings there

This would be my first newsletter, please help me on how should it be, what I can include etc

As the first installment, I'd start by letting them know this is the first of a monthly series of newsletters. As for what you put in it, just stick to what's going on at the site. Don't make it look like a reminder for them to come and post, or they may be turned off. Just list what's happening, and leave a link back to the site down at the bottom, and that should do it

I always start my newletters off with "Welcome to all new members who have registered since our last newsletter, thanks for joining us." I also add links to the latest topics and popular discussions etc

Include the latest topics, not the ones with the most views or post. That just doesn't make since to include those. Your most views are going to be something that is probably over 6 months old anyway, so why include it.

Always include why they are receiving the newsletter and how they can change it, if they choose not to receive it anymore.

Also give them a link on how they can give feedback or suggestions for your forum or newsletters. Tell them about upcoming events and any new forum updates that you maybe doing.
