Join Date: Sep 2005 Posts: 10,246 Location: Athens, GA    | There are so many forums out there called "generalchat", "allchat", "wordchat", "generaltalk", etc....if it were me, I'd almost prefer to come up with something crazy that doesn't make any sense but is brandable. Try stuff like Xanga, Flikr, Xoops. It's a general discussion, therefore the name does not need to be significant. Make yourself different and capitalize on that

| Your domain is not a great one. There are a very important aspects of a domain that are important in order to recieve traffic! 1. It's good to have a short domain, if it's too long no one will be able to remember it. 2. Your domain has to make sense or make people want to click it, and no offense but your domain does not make sense. Anyways good luck with your forum/website. I just thought I'd point out some of those tips! | ||||

Join Date: Mar 2006 Posts: 5 | Thanks for the tips. Picking a unique name that doesnt relate to the forum at all like Ryan pointed out is a lot harder than I first thought. Although it can be something completely random, it still has sound nice, and ofcourse remain short and memorable. | ||||

But i do recommend you come up with a name next time before the domain name. In general discussion forum, i agree it is not all about the name, but what discussion you are offering. I know you are suppose to be as broad as possible, but you need 1 or two more specific and denser areas of discussions to "hook" people to your forum. | ||||
