Last year I was running phpBB, and for an April Fool's joke installed a mod that would welcome the user as an admin, then when they clicked the link for the admin control panel were shown a funny graphic instead.

This year I want to get a bit more elaborate. Since the members of Clown Forum have been talking about the Muppets lately, I've installed the Encheferizer mod (vBulletin), which will alter all the posts to make it look like they were written by the Swedish Chef. It even occasionally throws in a "bork, bork, bork". I'm going to alter the logo to have the Chef popping out too.

I'd also like to change everyone's avatar to the Swedish Chef (to make sure the pandemonium is complete) but I'm not sure if that will be possible... can't change all 1200+ members manually, altering the template would just show one image for everyone which I think would ruin the effect, and I don't know how to get a random image to appear for each post. (Added complication: I'm also displaying the user avatar next to threads in forumhome.) Any ideas how I can accomplish this? Too bad there's no mod for temporarily assigning avatars based on first letter of their name; that would be ideal.

Anyone else planning a big April Fool's joke on your forum?

Last year I wrote a small php script which jumbled up the navigation links and send you to the wrong pages...which was hilarious to watch from the "Who's Online" section...

This year I have used MyBB's language editor to create a "1337" language for the forum, which shall confuse everyone...

You could probably accomplish this with a couple of cleverly placed plugins. One being on the postbit creation. Maybe if I get bored I can throw something together. If you want pm me with exactly what you would like it to do and I will see if I get a few mins to help out.

Did that last year sorta, I didnt do it at login, I did it when a person just visited the forum. It was much more complicated than I had imagined. Now that I know more about vb it could probably be accomplished more simply in a plugin.

I'm not sure. Last year I did it a different way because I wasn't as familiar with plugins. But I bet it could be done in plugins.
