How do you manage multiple forums?

For those who own more than one forum, how can you successfully manage more than one forum (i.e. advertising, promoting and moderating).

Somedays it can be hard.

A couple things I do and would do:

Find a Mod(s) or an Admin to help you manage your forum(s).
I take an 1/2 to an hour a day, to promote my sites. Even if it is just 1 site a day. If you try and do more than a hour, you may end up getting frustrated if things don't pan out.
I also make a list of what needs to be done, I review it everyday.

Well you just have to keep bouncing back and forth, and if it gets too hard take a break from the smaller projects and work on your main project. Some people say being busy helps them maintain a forum better.

This may not apply to the OP, but one recommendation that I have if you are considering this is to first establish one forum, get it running, and get a good feel for the workload there. If you think you can and want to start another, do it...but I would never dive into 2 forums at once if you haven't ever ran one before.

Very poorly actually More then one forum is to much for me, I can't do it. I tried making another design forum a little while ago, but it just wasn't working. My attention was divided, and both forums suffered because of it. I just prefer to put all my effort and creativity into one place

I started a forum five years ago for a British actor. It's an official forum and the actor plays an active role in the running of the site and we have very good moderators. The forum was very busy but we noticied that the 'General Chat' section was extremely busy and it was taking away the main focus of the site.

It was then I decided to create Chat Daily where the members from the other forum could join and talk about absolutely anything. The moderators from the official site now help me with both forums. My time is spent between the two forums but as Chat Daily is fairly new it is very busy so I spend most of my time on there.

Badly.

I spend too much time at my first forum and my other one suffers for it. But I have never been able to multi-task properly anyway.

I don't know, I'm sure there is some trick to doing it successfully but I haven't found it yet. I just don't have enough hours in the day to put as much effort into my second forum as do for my first.

Imagine having 4 forums which I have. So until I find a way to manage all 4, if anyone is interested in helping me promote some of the forums, please let me know.
I have a Movies Forum, a Video Games Forum, a Computers and Electronics Forum and a Webmaster Forum.

Make a list of everything you need to do and when it needs to be done by (inc if it needs to be done daily). After that use a software such as Microsoft Outlook's To-Do feature. Then pretty basically work down on the list.

That's very good advice Ryan and that's exactly what I did. I set up one forum first and got that established before setting up another one
