Is there a best time of year to start a forum?
...well, thats it really

Do you think that there is any advantage in starting at an optimum time, like after the Summer holiday season as the weather turns colder for example?

Or should I just get started whenever

The best time to start is NOW. It doesn't get any simpler than that. Who knows what tomorrow will bring. At least get everything in order before opening the doors. It takes a while to get spider'd and that's a good thing if you submit at the time you buy your domain.

Well, that is what I was going to say, but...

See, the best time of the year to get a forum off the ground is now, referring to late spring. The summer is when I find forums are most active, as people tend to have the most time on their hands (of course, this varies with different niches). You want to open up a bit before this summer boom so that your forum is prepared.

It doesn't matter what time of year it is if you get the idea to start a new forum, then start it as soon as possible before someone else takes your idea and builds upon it.

I would just start it as soon as you have set it up, a.s.a.p. Starting it in the holidays of your area, will only affect, that area for a short period of time but you could use that time in the holidays to build it up pretty quickly then release it after the hol's. Thats what i would do.

If you go to a school, college or whatever, then I'd suggest in the Summer Holidays because you may just need a lot of time to spend on your forum.
